Volunteering with ShopMobility
If you are interested in volunteering with us we would love to hear from you.
Volunteering can be a great way to meet new people, use the skills and experience you already have, learn something new and become more involved in your local community. Whether you have a few hours to spare, are looking for a new challenge or would simply like to help, there are lots of ways to get involved with Yeovil ShopMobility.
You do not need any special qualifications or previous volunteering experience. What matters most to us is that you are friendly, reliable and willing to help.
There are many different ways you could support ShopMobility, depending on your interests, experience and what you feel comfortable doing.
These might include:
General Office and Administrative Work
Helping and Talking with Customers
Computer Work / Social Media and Publicity
Fundraising and Funding Applications
Cleaning, Helping to look after our Mobility Equipment
Collecting or Delivering Equipment To Office/Stores
Other practical jobs that help keep ShopMobility running!
Some roles may involve handling confidential information or money, so trustworthiness and discretion are important.
Flexible volunteering
We know that everyone’s circumstances are different, so we try to be as flexible as possible. Volunteers can help in the mornings, afternoons or for a full day, depending on what suits them and what support is needed.
How to apply
If you would like to volunteer with us, please complete a volunteer application form.
We will then get in touch and invite you in for an informal chat so we can find out a little more about you, what you are interested in and how you might like to help.
If we both feel it is a good fit, we can then agree the role, days and hours that work best.
We may also ask you to provide details of referees who can give us a reference, for example a previous employer or someone who knows you well. Depending on the role, we may also need to carry out a DBS check. We will explain any checks that are needed when we meet you.
Volunteers are given the support and basic training they need for their role, including an understanding of relevant policies and procedures such as safeguarding, equality and diversity, and data protection.
Interested in becoming a Trustee?
We also welcome enquiries from people who may be interested in becoming a Trustee and helping to support and guide Yeovil ShopMobility.
You do not necessarily need previous trustee experience. What matters is having an interest in the charity, being willing to contribute and wanting to help us continue supporting local people.
We look forward to hearing from you!
